I’ve been cheating…

I have a confession to make. I’ve been cheating on my blog over at Million Dollar Journey where I have written a bunch of real estate articles.

It’s been great, I’ve been doing a lot of writing while I’m somewhat house bound here with my son while my hubby is sick.

What is interesting about writing articles is that you learn. First when you are writing and researching, and then as you respond to comments. I already know a lot about real estate but it gets me reading and thinking about current issues.

I want to thank Frugal Trader for giving me this opportunity.

I have been encouraged to continue working on my blog and it has been a steep learning curve so far. I am learning the ins and outs of WordPress which has been challenging to say the least.

So far I have had to call up my hosting company and they will migrate me to a new server. I tried to update my software  and found that I could not due to the database being too old. I called Fastwebserver and they will do the whole moving my site operation soon. It will probably break something.

For a few days I was looking at countless WordPress themes. My head felt like it was going to explode. So after looking at endless permutations of themes I finally found one I liked called Swift but I couldn’t make it work.

I then asked my friend Mike at Money Smarts Blog who offered to help and he suggested a sweet theme that was really clear and easy to read and that’s what I’m using now.

I still have to learn how to add some more widgets (those are things that add functionality to the site) So far I’m kind of amazed that it’s not as hard as I thought. Once I stopped being terrified of breaking it and started trying random things I started to learn the basics of it.

My only reader so far is probably my husband and I bet he’ll just read the title and won’t even get to this part….. I’ll find out soon enough lol.

I often think with computers the most important things is to get over the fear of breaking it. Once you play with the software, you get a feel for it (and after breaking it and fixing it a few times it’s not as scary any more! :-).
